Visit before surgery 6:42am April 5th

When we got to the NICU we could hear Owen fussing from outside of pod A.  Because he was fussing, his renal numbers were really low and his heart rate was above 200.  This was the most that we have heard him fussing actually.  When the nurse looked at his hand with the IV it was all puffy.  Apparently after they finished his anti-inflammatory drugs they did a flush on the IV line and the line slipped out of the vein so all of the fluid went into his hand.  No wonder he was so fussy.  The nurse had to remove the IV and his numbers slowly returned to normal.  Now one of the cardiac fellows is in Owen's room.  He said that they are having their first conference about Owen to make sure that the whole team is on the same page when it comes to Owen's surgery.
