Extubation 8:44pm April 7th

We just got back to the hospital from going out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory.  We get in the room and Owen is wide awake and looking around the room.  We had to wait for a while for his nurse to come by and then she told us that they decided during the evening rounds that, because he is so wide awake and breathing so nicely on to p of the ventilator, they are going to extubate him and get him off of the ventilator!!!  So in a couple of minutes the doctor should be coming back around to take out his breathing tube.
