8:25am April 6th

I realized this morning that I forgot to upload the latest pictures last night when I was updating the blog, so here they are.
So this is Owen's whole suit in the CICU.  I think it is a pretty impressive array of equipment.
I thought Owen looked more peaceful last night than he did earlier in the day.
This is the family area of Owens room.  The couch/love seat that Cassie is sitting on actually converts into a double bed if we choose to stay in Owen's room.  They of course have a TV and there is a VCR/DVD player combo and there is even a PS3 that we can check out games for.  Apparently they want you to spend as much time in the room as you can, which is no problem for me, I want to spend a lot of time with Owen, there is just the little issue of Cassie getting discharged from the hospital herself which should happen later today.

Now back to the present.  So Cassie and I just got back from seeing Owen.  He is looking so great.  His numbers are looking even better than they did last night.  His oxygen saturation levels are even better than they were last night, that could be because they decreased his sedation, took him off of the paralytics and blood pressure meds, but whatever the reason it is a good sign.  Because he is no longer paralyzed, he is actually responding to things.  If you put your finger in his beautiful little hands he will actually grasp it.  He is moving around a little bit, but not a whole lot.  It actually looks like the swelling is going down in his chest and there are less fluids being drained from his chest.  Not long before we left he actually started to open his eyes.  I can't tell you how reassuring it is to see his beautiful little eyes staring up at you.

Aren't those the most beautiful little eyes you have ever seen?  Well now it is time to get some food.  More updates to come.

  1. What a great way to start the holiday weekend! Although a long rollercoaster of a journey yet to come, I hope the rest of the journey continues to be as positive as it's looking right now.
